THE SEA é o quinto álbum solo da Melanie C. Foi lançado dia 04 de setembro no Reino Unido no formato físico e digital. Para o álbum, Melanie investiu em novos colaboradores e na fórmula eclética de sucesso do seu primeiro álbum solo NORTHERN STAR, de 1999. Antes mesmo do seu lançamento oficial, dois singles já foram retirados do álbum: ROCK ME e THINK ABOUT IT, que foi lançado no mesmo dia do álbum no Reino Unido. ROCK ME foi incluído apenas na versão alemã do álbum. Assim como THE SEA tem uma tracklist diferente no Reino Unido e Alemanha. A faixa LET THERE BE LOVE faz parte exclusivamente do tracklist alemão e do iTunes.

THINK ABOUT IT é o single carro-chefe do quinto álbum solo da Melanie C, chamado THE SEA. A canção foi escrita por Adam Argyle, Daniel Davidsen, Jason Gill, a própria Melanie e Mich Hansen, conhecido como Cutfather, responsável pela produção de vários Top10 hits no Reino Unido e EUA.

O vídeo para o single foi divulgado no dia 15 de julho de 2011, no site oficial da cantora. O clipe foi dirigido por Howard Greenhalgh e mostra uma Melanie C sensual e muito feminina, com várias trocas de figurinos.

Escrito por Melanie e Dave Roth, que também co-produziu com Andy Chatterley, ROCK ME é um hino motivador com um refrão infeccioso e vozes emocionantes e distintas de Melanie. Com sua energia alta e batida implacável, a música foi escolhida como a canção oficial para a cobertura de canal de televisão alemão ZDF da Copa do Mundo Feminina da FIFA - que se realiza na Alemanha neste verão.

No dia 07 de junho, o vídeo do single foi divulgado na conta oficial da cantora no YouTube. O clipe foi filmado em Manchester e teve o alemão Marcus Sternberg como diretor. Sternberg já fez comerciais para a Adidas e para a Lego, assim como o clipe de IT'S LIKE THAT, hit da parceria Run-D.M.C. vs Jason Nevins, que impediu STOP de chegar ao topo dos charts britânicos e interrompeu o recorde das Spice Girls com o maior número de singles #1 consecutivos de estreia.

ROCK ME, o single, inicialmente seria lançado apenas na Alemanha, Áustria e Suíça no dia 24 de junho, no formato físico e digital. Porém, após a circulação do vídeo, o single foi lançado digitalmente no mundo todo pelo iTunes, no dia 26 de junho.

"ROCK ME é uma faixa realmente divertida, edificante, dançante - bem diferente do resto do álbum. Que prepara-se para ser bastante diversificado em estilos - pop, mas ainda com rock, dance e influências acústicas. Eu estou me divertindo muito em estúdio com o meu produtor, Andy Chatterley, trabalhando em um som forte para criar o álbum.
